Beyond Good & Evil 2 is reportedly still in pre-production

Yes Skull & Bones is in a difficult situation at Ubisoft, what about Beyond Good & Evil 2. Since E3 2018, the project has experienced a stormy development, with in particular the departure of Michel Ancel. Contrary echoes were then heard, first declaring that the project was not in a very reassuring stage, while on the other, Ubisoft Montpellier continued to recruit to work on the game. Finally, the development of Beyond Good & Evil 2 seems to be still relevant, but would be blocked at an essential phase in its development.

At least the project is still in progress

It is Jason Schreier from Bloomberg who comes to remind us of this in his article which explains in particular why Ubisoft finally intends to release a new Assassin’s Creed in 2022/2023, when the next episode was to be Assassin’s Creed Infinity.

He then specifies that Ubisoft struggles in the production of certain titles, including Beyond Good & Evil 2 :

The online game Skull & Bones has been delayed many times due to changes in direction, while Beyond Good & Evil 2, the sequel to a much-loved game, remains in pre-production after at least five years in developmentaccording to people working on the game. »

The project is therefore not dead, but after so many years of development, it does not seem to be ready for its real active production phase yet. Let’s hope that with the necessary recruitments for the studio, things will take shape in a few months/years.
