Biathlon: Quentin Fillon-Maillet untouchable in pursuit of Ruhpolding

The Frenchman confirms his exceptional form a few days before the opening of the Olympic Games.

Frenchman Quentin Fillon-Maillet increased his lead in the general classification of the Biathlon World Cup by winning the pursuit of Ruhpolding (Germany) on Sunday.

Fillon-Maillet signed his 5th success of the season and the 11th of his career by beating Russian Alexander Loginov by 8.8 seconds and Belarusian Anton Smolski by 13.1 seconds.

The Frenchman (29) thus widens the gap in the race for the big crystal globe since he now has a 97-point lead over the Swede Sebastian Samuelsson, who finished 7th.

Fillon-Maillet, winner of the sprint on Thursday, was in a fight until halfway through the German Benedikt Doll before breaking him during the first standing shot and flying alone to victory. The Jura player completed the event with a score of 18/20 with the rifle.

Simon Desthieux also distinguished himself on the French side by taking 4th place.
