Kaiserslautern and Hansa knock at the top

At first everything in Fürth looks like a sensitive damper for 1. FC Kaiserslautern – but after half-time the promoted team turns the game upside down and jumps to fourth place. Heidenheim fails against basement child Bielefeld, but Hansa Rostock crawls further up.

SpVgg Greuther Furth – 1. FC Kaiserslautern 1: 3 (1: 0)

SpVgg Greuther Fürth has to wait for their first win of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga. The Bundesliga relegated team lost 1:3 (1:0) to 1. FC Kaiserslautern on matchday 5 despite a strong first half and now has three draws and two defeats. Tobias Raschl (13th) gave Fürth an early lead in front of 12,475 spectators in the Ronhof sports park. But Philipp Hercher (46′) and Mike Wunderlich turned the game around for the promoted team (54′) before Kenny Redondo even increased (79′).

Fürth immediately tried to take control and repeatedly attacked the visitors early on. A pass from Dickson Abiama landed the ball at young striker Armindo Sieb, who played the ball towards the left post, where Raschl scrambled the ball into the goal. As a result, Fürth ignited a firework of opportunities. Only Sieb (20th) and Abiama (26th) missed the second goal. Shortly thereafter, captain Branimir Hrgota failed to FCK keeper Andres Luthe (39th). Kaiserslautern, who had been struggling for a long time, only had their first good chance through Redondo shortly before the break (44′).

The guests from the Palatinate then came out of the dressing room as if they had been changed and turned the game around with goals from Hercher (46th) and Wunderlich (54th), which was now open. Fürth rarely had chances (72′). Redondo made everything clear.

Hansa Rostock – FC St. Pauli 2:0 (2:0)

Also thanks to a dream goal by attacker John Verhoek, Hansa Rostock achieved a prestigious victory. In the duel against northern rivals FC St. Pauli, Rostock, who played unleashed in the first half, won 2-0 (2-0) and celebrated their third win of the season. For St. Pauli it was the second defeat of the current season.

The highlight was Verhoek’s goal to make it 2-0: the Dutchman, who had been chasing goals for St. Pauli for three years, scored an acrobatically overhead kick from around ten meters (17′). Kai Pröger (4th) had previously scored.

Rostock had earned the early lead. Coach Jens Härtel’s team overwhelmed St. Pauli with early pressing and fast switching. The Hamburgers were still well served with the half-time result. Hansa had everything under control after the break, but the number of big chances decreased.

1. FC Heidenheim – Arminia Bielefeld 1: 1 (1: 1)

Arminia Bielefeld fought for the first point of the season when new coach Daniel Scherning made his debut. After four defeats in a row, the Bundesliga relegated team drew 1-1 (1-1) at 1. FC Heidenheim and left the bottom of the table after one night in 18th place. Heidenheim remains in the top group. Bielefeld had fired his coach Uli Forte after four games of the season and helped himself in the neighborhood at lightning speed: Scherning, a man with a long Arminia past, came from the third division club VfL Osnabrück, only 40 kilometers away.

After two minutes he had to watch the first goal conceded in front of 8395 spectators: Tim Kleindienst scored for FCH, Arminia goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino did not look good. Robin Hack (10th) immediately countered with a 25-meter volley dream goal. Frederik Jäkel (75′) saw Bielefeld’s side for repeated foul play (75′). Scherning had made two changes to the starting XI, but due to injury – Ivan Lepinjica added his debut in midfield. Heidenheim was clearly the better team, especially in the second half, Kevin Sessa (57th) hit the post. An alleged Arminia goal was disallowed because the ball had previously been out of bounds.
