Clues regarding future Helldivers 2 content have been extracted from the title’s own code and suggest that a highly anticipated feature could finally make its debut in the game.

Together

According to a recent leak, references to “platoons” would already be present in the code of Helldivers 2. The different wording suggests that they will function in the same way as clans in other online games, therefore allowing join large permanent groups and regularly team up with other players from the same platoon. A discovery that we owe to the Reddit user @IronSightspresenting the different features that these groups will include, whether it is the option to join or leave them, or even the labels specific to each clan.

While this leak doesn’t necessarily ensure the feature’s future presence in the game, it still makes it quite probable. Previous leaks concerning major orders or the arrival of mechas have proven to be accurate, legitimizing the thought that these famous platoons would be the next big additions to the title. In addition, it would be an excellent way for Arrowhead – its developer – to highlight the solidarity of players, in addition to being able to integrate challenges that pit clans against each other.

Future

If you ever hoped that the gameplay ofHelldiverse 2 finds himself involved in a story with a tragic and epic scenario, make up your mind: that will never happen. This is the response given by Shams Jorjani – Arrowhead’s new CEO – to a player’s X (formerly Twitter) post asking if a co-op story mode was planned. Impossible according to the CEO who explains that “it would mean rethinking and recreating a whole new game”. Additionally, the studio has only produced a small handful of games with a small team, and undoubtedly does not have the material and human resources necessary to develop a complete narrative experience.

In addition, the title has just emerged from a controversy due to PlayStation’s announcement requiring players on Steam to have a PSN account, a request which had led to the outright suppression of the game in several regions of the world. Finally canceled, the decision scared the player, worried that one day they would no longer be able to enjoy their copy ofHelldiverse 2. A concern to which the studio responded that “the team would build title management automation”.
