HBO did not comment on Kidman’s comments when contacted by TVLine. These do not yet represent an official extension. However, those involved in front of and behind the scenes have basically agreed for years that they would like to continue the series around the five brilliant leading actresses.

In 2019, HBO President Casey Bloys spoke out in favor of a sequel, as People reports. Series creator David E. Kelley (67) also commented accordingly in 2021, but pointed out to “TVLine” to the “logistical” problem that everyone involved was “so busy”.

The sudden death at the age of just 58 of executive producer and season one director Jean-Marc Vallée (1963-2021) presented another hurdle for a third season of the series in 2021. Series star Zoë Kravitz therefore explained 2022 to “GQ”: “We’ve talked a lot about doing a third season. Unfortunately, Jean-Marc Vallée, our incredible director, passed away last year, which is very sad. And I can’t imagine continuing without him. He really was the visionary this show. So unfortunately it’s over.”
