Do not believe that the technology sector is more rational than that of religion or spirituality. Oracles abound in these two worlds. And in the tech world, Steve Wozniak or even Bill Gates are regularly consulted to give their opinions on anything and everything, as soon as there are 0s and 1s.
The illustrious founder of Microsoft therefore held his annual AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit this week, in front of Internet users, to test his popularity, and to deliver some opinions to the world, which some will consider enlightened.
So, Bill Gates is not a big fan of metaverse, Web3 and NFTs. But he loves generative artificial intelligences like ChatGPT. There you go, you know everything. OK, here’s a bit more.
Next step for OpenAI: 570 times more parameters
“I don’t think Web3 is that important or that the metaverse alone is revolutionary,” says Bill Gates, who also considers NFTs to be just a speculative bubble.
But on artificial intelligence, Bill Gates considers that AI is a revolution. And to qualify OpenAI’s ChatGPT as a now essential tool. “It gives a glimpse of what is to come. I’m impressed with this whole approach and the level of innovation,” he says. And to cite education or health as sectors of the future for AI. If GPT-3 offers 175 billion parameters, GPT-4 should offer 100,000 billion, or 570 times more parameters. Enough to explode the performance of the machine, and most certainly improve the quality of the answers offered.
