The father of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has died. William Henry Gates II was 94 years old.
Bill Gates (64) mourns his father William Henry Gates II. The 94-year-old died on Monday. "We've all had plenty of time to reflect on how lucky we are to have this amazing man in our lives for so many years," wrote Bill Gates on his official blog.
Gates Sr. was a founding partner of a Seattle law firm. Bill Gates also said his father was instrumental in founding the nonprofit organization he has focused on since leaving Microsoft: "The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation would not be what it is today without my father," he said Entrepreneur. Bill Gates Sr. served on the foundation's board of directors. "People used to ask my father if he was the real Bill Gates," wrote the 64-year-old. "The truth is, he was all I try to be."
