The ghost hunters are back: The old ghost hunter squad presented the new film together with their young co-stars in New York.

The “Ghostbusters” are back: And not just the new stars of the sequel “Frozen Empire”, but also the old team. On Thursday, old and young “Ghostbusters” premiered together in New York City. Together with their young co-stars like Paul Rudd (54), Bill Murray (73), Dan Aykroyd (71) and Ernie Hudson (78) photographed on the red carpet.

In addition to Murray, Aykroyd and Hudson, Annie Potts (71) was also a guest at the premiere – they all starred in the original 1984 comedy and its 1989 sequel. However, they couldn’t appear in full in the new film: Harold Ramis (1944-2014), another original “Ghostbusters” star, died around ten years ago. But his character’s legacy lives on.

New and old “Ghostbusters” united

“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” brings together old and new faces in the fantasy saga: In addition to the original ghost hunters, there are now younger actors such as Carrie Coon (43), Mckenna Grace (17) and Finn Wolfhard (21), who will make their debut in 2021 “Ghostbusters: Legacy”.

In the new film, Coon, Grace and Wolfhard play the descendants of Ramis’ character Egon Spengler and pursue the legacy of ghost hunting in their own way. Paul Rudd also joins the cast as Gary, a science teacher and die-hard Ghostbusters fan.

Directed by Gil Kenan (47) and written by Jason Reitman (46), the Spengler family and the original “Ghostbusters” have to fight against a frosty threat. When an ancient artifact unleashes a horde of ghosts, ghost hunters must unite to save New York City from a second ice age. “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” opens in cinemas in Germany on March 21st.
