Billie Eilish (22) has announced her third studio album. On her Instagram account with 120 million subscribers, the US musician announced that the work entitled “Hit Me Hard and Soft” will be released on May 17th. “I don’t release singles, I want to give you everything at once”, she writes in her post. “Finneas and I really couldn’t be prouder of this album and we can’t wait for you to hear it,” she also reveals about working again with her brother, with whom she wrote the record.

Album songs as a unit

“Her most important creative partner from the start, her brother produced again this time,” it says in an album announcement. The songs are a unit, “which is why it’s best to listen to the new album completely and chronologically,” it goes on to explain. The album title represents the “extremely emotional work that deals hard and soft blows, with Billie Eilish continually redefining genre boundaries in terms of content and sound and simply ignoring any kind of trends.”

Billie Eilish released the studio albums “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” and “Happier Than Ever” in 2019 and 2021. With her song “What Was I Made For?” (2023) from the film “Barbie” she recently celebrated success. The song won Best Song at the Oscars this year, Best Song at the Golden Globe Awards and Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards. Already in 2021/2022, her track “No Time to Die”, the theme song to the James Bond film “No Time to Die”, won an Oscar, a Grammy and a Golden Globe.

Eilish announced on Instagram on February 21st that a new album was already ready. To several photosin which she poses with a ski mask, she simply wrote: “My album is finished.”
