The biggest shopping events of the year
Amazon Prime Day
Prime Day deals are an annual event hosted solely by Amazon. It is held over a period of 48 hours and is reserved for members of the Amazon Prime program. In 2022, a second wave of promotions exclusives was launched in October, a few weeks before Black Friday. Subscription to the service costs 6.99 euros per month or 69.90 euros per year.
You can also free access to offers thanks to the 30-day trial period. That said, whether it’s Prime Day or the rest of the year, it quickly pays for itself given the many benefits it offers.
Its members benefit from exclusive promotions, free priority delivery, as well as the Amazon Prime Video catalogue, the Amazon Music Prime service, the Prime Reading platform and a subscription to Amazon Prime Gaming. The French Days
Since 2018, French retailers have decided to set up French-style Black Friday called French Days. For a period of 5 days, merchants such as Boulanger, Darty, Fnac, Rue du Commerce, La Redoute or even Showroomprivé offer interesting promotions on high-tech products (smartphones, computers, televisions, etc.). Aliexpress Singles’ Day (China’s Singles’ Day on November 11)
After the French Days comes the singles day: Singles’ Day. Traditionally, on November 11, the Chinese online sales platform Aliexpress offers a big day of promotions. In recent years, the French e-commerce giants have also followed the trend by also offering offers during this Chinese-style Black Friday. Launched in 2009 by Alibaba (the Chinese Amazon), this festivity generates a significant turnover each year. In 2019, the e-commerce giant also generated a turnover of 34.74 billion euros in 24 hours.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday
Black Friday is fast approaching! the Friday, November 25, 2022, you can take advantage of a multitude of offers from French and foreign retailers (online or in store). If your finances do not allow you to indulge yourself with the good deals of Black Friday, know that there is Cyber Monday which takes place a few days after Black Friday.
This year, the event takes place on Monday, November 28, 2022. As the name suggests, this is a Monday where you can take advantage of online-only promotions. Launched in 2005 by American online merchants, the event has been hugely popular in France for several years. Among the stores participating in Black Friday and Cyber Monday, there is of course Amazon, Boulanger, Fnac and Darty or even Rue du Commerce.
Boxing Day (December 26)
One day after Christmas, you can enjoy Boxing Day (box day) the opening day of the sales in the United Kingdom and Australia. In major British cities, such as London, the event is particularly eagerly awaited: most bargains fly in the early hours. For merchants, this is an opportunity to sell off the stock of unsold Christmas products intended for Christmas. Among the participants, we find again Amazon (to take advantage of the best deals, order on the English store), Dell, Asos, Vans or Microsoft.
The Fukubukuro
To conclude the year, the Japanese launched the Fukubukuro (happiness bag in the Japanese language), which takes place on December 31st. This is a somewhat special event, which differs a lot from the others: instead of traditional promotions, you will receive a surprise bag sold at a fixed price.
