As “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” hits theaters this Wednesday, discover or rediscover where Wakanda is supposed to be, the land of T’Challa and Shuri, who played a pivotal role in “Captain America: Civil War” and ” Black Panther”.
The new Marvel adventure lands in cinemas on Wednesday, this time with a sequel to the adventures of a well-known hero, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Following the sudden death of Chadwick Boseman in 2020, the feature film underwent rewrites just before filming to let the team recover from the drama and understand the future of the Black Panther character without his interpreter.
Entitled Wakanda Forever, this sequel shows Shuri, T’Challa’s little sister, taking over the Black Panther costume, and describes the opposition between a previously unknown underwater kingdom and Wakanda over the precious metal known as the name vibranium. If the universe of this fictional country had already been explored in Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther, it is not certain that everyone remembers where precisely this country is located in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Thanks to the coordinates of the notebook of N’Jobu, the younger brother of T’Chaka, played by Sterling K. Brown in Black Panther, we can find that Wakanda would be somewhere in the current Democratic Republic of Congo. This information is consistent with the map seen at the end of Iron Man 2, which was released eight years earlier.

In the MCU, Wakanda is therefore located in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is not the case in the comics, in which the location of the country has varied according to the times.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set after the death of King T’Challa. Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje struggle to protect their nation from interference from other world powers. As the people struggle to move forward, our heroes will have to unite when a terrible threat arises from a kingdom hidden deep in the oceans: Talokan.
