According to an interview with its president, Mike Ybarra, Blizzard is planning a face-to-face BlizzCon in 2023.
It’s through an interview with the president of Blizzard, Mike Ybarra, in the LA Times that we learned the news. After cancellations due to the Covid-19 pandemic and controversies that rocked the company, Blizzard’s president revealed that BlizzConthe convention for all fans of the brand, could take place face-to-face in 2023.
“We previously announced that we were taking a break from BlizzCon while we reimagine it for the future, but we want to return to a live event that allows us to celebrate the community. We recently hired a new BlizzCon lead, April McKee, who is hard at work on this front. […] We are determined to bring BlizzCon back in 2023.” – Mike Ybarra.
Although the announcement may displease those who expected a BlizzCon 2022this announcement has something to reassure the fans of the convention who remained in uncertainty and that even more since the takeover by Microsoft.
Blizzard is going to have a lot going on in the coming months with Overwatch 2, Arclight Rumble and the latest World of Warcraft expansion, Dragonflight, it’s no wonder BlizzCon 2022 isn’t happening. The arrival of Diablo IV in 2023 will also be theopportunity to make fans forget about the popular disaster what is the release of Diablo Immortal. As a reminder, BlizzCon is usually held around late October/early November.
