My name is Agathe, I am a Lifestyle / Astrology web editor. I write articles in a very broad spectrum covering practical life to numerology. In this one, I tackle a subject that makes us sad: low morale. It is sometimes (often?) difficult to gain height and climb back up the slope quickly by learning useful lessons for yourself. Follower of well-being applied to all areas of life, I have experienced many techniques. Naturally, I wanted to share with you the 3 reflexes that I adopt to raise my level of joy in any situation.

1. Dance! (Put my body in motion)

It became a habit. Almost every day, before going to work, I put on music that I like and that makes me happy and I dance! No choreo or specific sequence. I let myself go, avoiding thinking about what my movements look like. I just indulge myself and release. Sometimes even when I know the lyrics, I sing. It gives me a lot of good and it makes me instantly happy. Moving the cells of your body releases endorphins and generates a state of well-being that boosts morale. This is the reason why physical activities in general are considered a natural antidepressant.

When I feel sluggish, I don’t think, I put on music that surrounds me and I dance. The desktop version? I plug in my headphones and I dance internally. And why not go dancing in the toilet? 3 minutes later, my state of mind is transformed and my body awake: I am in a very good mood. If dancing isn’t your thing, you might as well put on your sneakers and go for a run.

2. Reconnect with nature

Reconnecting with nature allows us to connect with our essence: life, simplicity. This allows you to gain perspective on your situation. In particular, I try to look at the sky through the window (or to go out, directly). Instantly, my brain makes the connection between the huge world around me and reminds me of how small I am in front of it and my fleeting problem. In the space of a few seconds, breathing fully, I put my concern into perspective.

Depending on where you are and your current occupation, it is not necessarily possible to go for a walk in the forest, swim in the sea or walk barefoot in a valley inhabited by sheep. Other options are more accessible: take care of your plants, look at images of lush landscapes, review your vacation photos… The brain does not make the difference between what is really experienced or not. The benefits are the same. Rather easy to fool him!

My advice : connect to the item you need the most on the moment or, which, in general, does you the most good (earth, fire, air…). Mine is water. Among the possibilities for reboosting in contact with water: sitting facing an expanse (lake, pond, ocean, river…), drinking water, taking a bath, listening to natural rain music. .. Visualization is also a very effective tool.

3. The anchoring technique

The technique that has helped me the most in case of persistent blues or long difficult periods of life is that of anchoring. This anti-stress resource consists of trigger a positive emotion in the body to replace a negative one. To do this, you must associate a strong emotion experienced in your life with an object, an image or a sign present in your daily life and which will be able to follow you everywhere.

For my part, I drew on a travel memory: the first giraffes encountered during my trip to Namibia. That day, I felt a very intense joy. It is important to target a moment when the emotion was very strong to the point, thinking about it, of reliving it instantly. This is the key to this technique (yes, a bit like the Patronuses in the Harry Potter universe!).

Every difficult morning, I drew a (very colorful) giraffe on my hand. A way to put myself in a good mood for the day (as if I was setting an intention for it) and to have it in front of me at all times. It is also possible to associate your memory with a movement (a pinch, pressing the thumb and index finger, placing a hand on your stomach, etc.), a noise, an object (photo, sticker on your cellphone, etc.). ).

How to activate its anchor?

For the technique to be effective, it is sometimes necessary to have to “activate” its anchoring. This takes the form of an active relaxation in 5 steps:

  • sit in a lying position
  • take deep breaths through your mouth throughout the exercise
  • review and release all the points of support of his body
  • then, think very hard about the situation (landscape, music, color, memory…) and the emotion (joy, calm, serenity…) that we are trying to find
  • finally, associate the gesture with the sensation while concentrating on the situation before gently regaining contact with the present moment
