From 2023, BMW cars will offer video games on board.

A selection of arcade, single and multiplayer games will be offered, via AirConsole’s Curved Display. We explain to you.

Video games (also) on board BMWs

It’s not just Tesla that allows video game enthusiasts to indulge their passion within their vehicles. Indeed, BMW has just formalized a partnership with the Swiss company N-Dream, in order to offer a selection of arcade games directly on the on-board screen.

Concretely, the AirConsole technology created by the start-up will make it possible to instantly broadcast games over the air directly on the screen, the latter then being playable from a smartphone.

A partnership with N-Dream

Indeed, to operate on board a BMW, the AirConsole technology will simply require having a Curved Display screen (via iDrive 8) as well as one or more smartphones. According to Anthony Cliquot, CEO of N-Dream: “ Our ingenious architecture combined with the ease of access of our platform will change the way people are entertained in their cars. »

The connection between the smartphone and the car is established by scanning a QR code directly displayed on the screen. Therefore, it is possible to enjoy both solo and multiplayer a catalog of more than 180 titles, including GoKart Go Air, Let’s Cook Together or Mega Monster Party.

Note, however, that the BMW 7 Series will be (for now) the only model compatible with this AirConsole offer. Obviously, the next BMW vehicles will also be compatible, but the models currently in circulation other than the latest BMW 7 Series seem to be doomed to do without this new service.

Video games will land on board BMWs in the course of 2023, indicates the manufacturer, without further details.
