(Boursier.com) — BMW saw its sales contract in the first quarterdespite a new surge in sales of electric vehicles. The German manufacturer thus sold 588,138 cars worldwide in the 1st quarter of 2023 (-1.5%) while its sales of electric vehicles jumped by +83.2% to 64,647 units. Sales of fully electric vehicles from the BMW brand alone more than doubled to 55,979 units (+112.3%).
BMW Group says it is on track to achieve modest sales growth for the full year 2023. “Fully electric vehicles and models in the premium segment will be the main drivers of this growth”, according to the firm. .
