(dpa) A boat carrying migrants from Cuba has sunk off the coast of Florida, according to the United States. The coast guard was looking for 23 people on Wednesday, as announced on Twitter.

Four migrants had previously reached the American Stock Island near Key West by swimming from the boat in “unfriendly” weather, it said. The dangerous hurricane “Ian” is moving towards the Florida coast, which is also causing severe weather in the area where the boat is believed to have capsized.
