In August 2021, Bob Dylan was accused of sexual abuse. His lawyers now describe the lawsuit as “brazen extortion”.

Bob Dylan’s (80) lawyers call the abuse allegations against their client “brazen blackmail”. This is evident from court documents which are available to the “People” magazine. Accordingly, the singer’s legal team dubbed the allegations “a bizarre and fabricated story used as financial gain”. In August 2021, the woman who calls herself JC filed a complaint against Dylan. He is alleged to have sexually abused her in 1965 when JC was only twelve years old.

Dylan’s lawyers: allegations are “untrue and absurd”

The lawyers describe the lawsuit as “untrue, absurd and a chronological impossibility”. Music historians have already found out that Dylan was not in New York City at the time of the alleged crime. JC claimed to have been molested in Dylan’s apartment in New York’s Chelsea Hotel from April to May 1965. Later she is said to have only given “Spring 1965” as the period.

“The indictment was made in bad will for the improper motive of demanding a huge payout, with the threat of bad press. The accusation is false, malicious, ruthless and defamatory. Mister Dylan does not allow himself to be blackmailed,” the lawyers said in theirs Write clearly.

Defense attorneys question the plaintiff’s credibility

In addition, the defense lawyers appear to question the plaintiff’s credibility in their statement. They point out that JC has already publicly claimed to have been abducted by aliens and to have the ability to communicate with animals and plants. Peter J. Gleason, JC’s attorney, was appalled by these statements. “If you attack someone for their beliefs, you are entering a very dangerous area,” he told Rolling Stone magazine.

JC’s indictment shows that she now lives in Connecticut and suffers from depression and an anxiety disorder. JC has filed her lawsuit in the New York Supreme Court.
