Audience helps Ovtcharov through eternal EM thriller

The German table tennis aces can hope for plenty of precious metal in the individual European Championship competitions: in the men’s division, Dimitrij Ovtcharov made it through to the quarter-finals after a nail-biting game, which Timo Boll reached in record time. Timo Boll and Dimitrij Ovtcharov have taken the next step towards the finals at the European Table Tennis Championships in Munich. Record winner Boll easily won his round of 16 against Slovakian Wang Yang 4:0. Olympic bronze medalist Ovtcharov narrowly beat Portuguese Marcos Freitas 4:3. Dang Qiu is also in the top eight on Saturday.
