Bomb alarm – unknown threatened event locations

The police searched two event venues in downtown Vienna on Saturday night and were finally able to give the all-clear.

In Vienna, threats against two event locations were received at the police emergency number and at several police stations on Sunday night. Events related to the LGBTIQ community were scheduled there. After checks, these were able to take place as planned.WEGA and dogs in actionPolice spokesman Philipp Haßlinger confirmed on Sunday that the police immediately searched the affected locations in the city center and in the Landstrasse district. The WEGA special unit and the police service dog unit were also called in to the operations. Nothing dangerous was discovered. “When the searches revealed no abnormalities, the operation was ended and the events could take place,” said the spokesman. “The investigations against the unknown perpetrators are in full swing.” The State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Combating Terrorism was also informed about the incident.
