Nearly a year after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the pressure around Western groups still present in Russia is not abating. Latest: the French vegetable heavyweight Bonduelle, victim last weekend of bad word-of-mouth, after two false photos of its products circulated on social networks. There were food parcels with his effigy accompanied by wishes of victory to the soldiers of the Russian army.
These images, immediately qualified as “false” by the group, and the call for a boycott of Bonduelle products that followed illustrate the extent to which maintaining a presence in Russia remains a headache for companies that have made this choice. “The subject remains extremely sensitive because, whatever we do, it will always be held against us on one side or the other”confesses the spokesperson for a French food multinational with a long-standing presence in Russia.
