Football: Zidane, Gourcuff and Dugarry in Bordeaux to celebrate the centenary of the Chaban-Delmas stadium

Beautiful people for the 100th anniversary. This Tuesday, at 8 p.m., the Chaban-Delmas stadium in Bordeaux, formerly Parc Lescure, will celebrate its centenary by receiving distinguished guests. At the initiative of the city’s mayor Pierre Hurmic, the historic grounds of the Football Club des Girondins de Bordeaux (FCGB) will host a prestigious meeting pitting the Variétés Club de France against a team made up of former FCGB players.

The great veterans of the Girondins all responded, in particular Zinédine Zidane. The icon revealed himself with the navy and white jersey and played for 4 years. Zizou also had his first selection for the French team in this Chaban-Delmas stadium almost 30 years ago, on August 17, 1994, by scoring a double in a friendly match against the Czech Republic.

Zidane will be accompanied by Bixente Lizarazu, Christophe Dugarry, Marius Trésor, Yohan Gourcuff and of course Alain Giresse, 71, who played a whopping 520 matches during 16 seasons in Bordeaux, a record. This stadium which brings back a lot of memories. “For me it’s a story of life. It’s this stadium as a kid that made me dream and later. In this enclosure, I experienced the greatest moments of my career at the Girondins”, remembers Alain Giresse, legend of the Girondins de Bordeaux and European Football 1 consultant.
