Bonnie Strange, 35, is fed up with women being reduced to motherhood. She is a mom herself and wants to get the topics of sexuality and masturbation out of the taboo zone. Bonnie is therefore the testimonial of the new Womanzier edition “BadAss Moms” and speaks to GALA.de about the real needs of mothers.

Bonnie Strange, 35, became the mother of her daughter Goldie Venus in 2018. The fact that she is reduced to this role goes against the grain – because she is and will remain an independent woman. In an interview with GALA.de, she makes it clear that there is nothing that distinguishes mothers and women when it comes to sexuality.

Bonnie Strange: “I’m a better mom to Goldie when I’m happy”

GALA: Do you find it difficult to switch between badass Bonnie and mother roles?
Bonnie Strange: No, not at all. Of course, it took some time for our lives to level off and settle in. In the beginning you are tired 24/7 and have to adjust to the new situation. I’ve been a single parent since birth. Even so, I realized pretty quickly that if I am happy too, I am a much better mother to Goldie and keep doing the things that make me happy.

Why is it a thorn in the side of some people when mothers act out sexually?
It is often the case that, as a woman, you are reduced to your mother role. If you go to work, you are a bad mother because you leave your child alone. If you don’t go to work, then you are lazy.

For many, mothers only exist in relation to their child or children and no longer as an independent woman.

The topic of sexuality – supposedly – doesn’t fit in at all and triggers a lot of resistance in the minds of many. Mothers are women too, with their own needs and wants. It is important that we do not forget this. In addition, we shouldn’t let ourselves be persuaded that we as women cannot and should not have everything. We deserve everything!

When do you feel “badass” in everyday life?
Mostly when I’m producing photos or videos. I love to shoot sexy photos or videos. The video for the campaign was unbelievable fun and I can express myself creatively and put my body in the limelight as I find it beautiful and aesthetic.

Why is there so little talk about the subject of “masturbation”? Why should one talk about it?
There is still a lot of shame about masturbation. In concrete terms: many are embarrassed to talk about it. In addition, there are a lot of myths about masturbation, at the same time too little is explained about it in schools or by parents. All of this contributes to the fact that the topic is kept secret. It is something completely normal – like sleeping, drinking, eating.

Sexuality is a basic need and we just keep it quiet. That’s why it’s so important that we talk about it.

Womanizer has been doing educational work for years and wants to create an open and shameless exchange. Personally, I think that’s so important and that’s why I was all the more pleased when you approached me about a collaboration.

Bonnie feels good with more pounds

They say that before giving birth, they sometimes had problems with your body. Why has that changed now?
I worked as a model very early on, so you always have pressure when it comes to your body and your figure. When I got pregnant, the pounds came automatically and I noticed that I wasn’t feeling uncomfortable at all. Since then I have had a totally healthy relationship with my body and am very proud of it and feel good all round.

Do you have to know your body in order to love it?
I believe that everyone has to answer that for themselves. As women in particular, we are measured against innumerable, unrealistic (beauty) ideals. It is “radical” to say “No, I accept my body as it is. And that’s good”.
