With Caliper, industrial companies now have the opportunity to access a new IoT Edge software solution that allows them to optimize the performance of their products and their maintenance operations, while reducing costs and deploying more efficient solutions. . It is in this perspective that Caliper, a technology demonstrator, comes into play, offering pragmatic and efficient assistance for the acquisition, visualization and interpretation of data from energy systems.
Caliper is positioned as a tailor-made solution allowing manufacturers to
guarantee the energy efficiency of their machine parks

The device includes a box specially designed for the acquisition and conversion of data from machines or industrial products, a powerful local calculation module (Edge Computing) as well as a touch screen serving as a user interface. Associated with energy sensors such as electricity, gas, heat in particular, Caliper analyzes in detail the energy consumption and production profile of a machine.
This solution aims to support manufacturers in optimizing or demonstrating the efficiency of their machines in terms of energy management.

By harnessing local computing power, Caliper enriches the data of the monitored system. Acquisition characteristics such as sampling, storage time, conversion, and association are determined based on the user’s needs. Once the data is enriched, it is available for display via the user interface and can, if necessary, be sent to a cloud to allow interconnection to a centralized system in the company. This autonomy from remote processing, combined with the storage capacity, allows Caliper to operate off-grid for long acquisition periods and to optimize the cost and safety of data acquisition.
Caliper’s intuitive user interface aims to make critical information of the monitored system accessible, presenting a series of custom graphs generated through a “low code” approach. This allows energy specialists with no particular knowledge of IT development to be the creators of their own solution without going through a design office or a software development team. Data is stored locally for a user-defined period. The current graphic library makes it possible to adapt the display for quick reading, thus meeting the specific needs of each user.
This technological demonstrator represents a significant step forward for the BOOSTHEAT teams in improving their future products.
