Samse: turnover fell by 12% in the 1st quarter

(Boursier.com) — The economic situation in the 1st quarter is frankly unfavorable for the Group Samse. The renovation market remains at a decent level but the new construction sector is in decline (-25.2% of housing starts, cumulatively at the end of February 2024), particularly in the share of house construction individual.

In this difficult context, the turnover of the Samse Group amounted to 424 million euros as of March 31, 2024, a decline of -12% compared to the 1st quarter of 2023. On a comparable basis, the Group’s activity is down -13.5%.

The turnover of the Trading activity, i.e. 333 ME, fell by -14.7% (-16.5% on a comparable basis). The turnover of the DIY activity showed good resilience and stabilized at 92 ME, or -0.8%.

Outlook

In this unfavorable environment, the Samse group continues to focus on its fundamentals, in particular commercial responsiveness, control of outstanding customer credit and adjustment of its inventory levels. This prudent strategy aims to adapt the agencies and stores in its current network to the territorial specificities of each of its brands.

However, the group intends to finalize the development projects currently under study.
