Boris Becker has to go to prison. Some reacted with scorn on social media, others felt sorry for the tennis legend.
Boris Becker (54) was sentenced to two years and six months in prison on April 29. The tennis legend and her team can still appeal the guilty verdict and the sentence. As expected, the hashtag #BorisBecker trended on Twitter after the verdict was announced. While some users reacted with scorn, others were appalled by the reactions or showed compassion.
“Am I in there already, or what?”
Several users tore about Jokes based on an old AOL ad, in which Becker was seen more than 20 years ago. At the time, the former athlete asked, amazed at the easy access to the network: “Am I already in there, or what?” Another user meanwhile, Becker already sees it as a new candidate for the jungle camp in an upcoming season of “I’m a Celebrity – Get Me Out of Here!”.
Becker jokes “are really inappropriate”

Punishment for wrong behavior etc. is important, but – we are all human. Remember.” Similar another user sees the mocking reactions: “Cheap ‘jokes’ and endless malice. Another user writes, that Becker was a hero of his childhood: “I have always found him tragic as a public figure. Now he is going to prison and while this is certainly correct and justified, I feel sorry for him.”
