Boris Becker: Podcast addresses the ups and downs of his life

Boris Becker goes among the podcasters: he speaks to Johannes B. Kerner "openly like never before" about the ups and downs of his life.

The three-time Wimbledon winner Boris Becker (53) starts his own podcast. "Boris Becker – The Fifth Movement" will be available exclusively on Amazon Music from December 8th. In five episodes he wants to look at the "person Boris Becker and the important milestones and topics of his life" every Tuesday together with Johannes B. Kerner (55), according to a message.

Each of the episodes will illuminate a chapter in his life. It should be about the discrepancy between the public and private person Boris Becker, his family as well as victories and defeats in sport as in personal life. His companion Patrik Kühnen (54) can be heard as a guest in one of the episodes.

Boris Becker wants to present "his view of things"

The podcast is a very personal conversation about his life and how he actually thinks and feels, explains Becker in a statement. "Much has always been written and spoken about me. Now I am very happy to (…) tell my story in full and in my own words and to present my view of events, experiences and headlines." Johannes B. Kerner says of his interlocutor: "I wish him that despite all the weaknesses that each of us has, he receives the respect that he – I think – undoubtedly deserves."

Last Wednesday (November 25th) Boris Becker announced that he would withdraw from the German Tennis Association (DTB) at the end of the year. He wants to give up his position as men's boss because he "currently does not have the time to continue to carry out this extensive task," said a statement from the association. He will remain on friendly terms with the DTB and can imagine "if my time allows, I will take on an even bigger task at the DTB if the opportunity arises."
