Federal Defense Minister Boris Pistorius got married. The Ministry of Defense confirmed this when asked.

Federal Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius (63, SPD) has married, as the Federal Ministry of Defense announced upon request. “We can confirm that Federal Minister Pistorius got married between the years,” said a Defense Ministry spokesman when asked by spot on news on Friday.

It is his second marriage

Pistorius has been in a relationship with his new second wife, the political scientist Julia Schwanholz, since 2022. The SPD politician and his party friend Doris Schröder-Köpf, 60, were previously a couple. The top politician’s first marriage was to Sabine Pistorius (1961-2015), who died as a result of cancer. There are two daughters from this marriage. The minister has not yet made a personal statement about the wedding before the turn of the year.

Boris Pistorius has been Federal Minister of Defense since mid-January 2023. The SPD politician was previously mayor of the Lower Saxony city of Osnabrück between 2006 and 2013, where he was born in 1960. Pistorius then served as Lower Saxony’s interior minister for almost ten years.

Pistorius is one of the country’s most popular politicians. When asked “What do you think of?” he is lying according to the current ZDF political barometer “continues to be unchallenged in first place.” Pistorius therefore has an average value of 1.6 – well ahead of second-placed North Rhine-Westphalia Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst, 48, with 0.7 and Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder, 57, with a value of 0.1.
