Bouygues, SFR, Orange: that’s it, subscription prices are starting to rise

As expected, Orange, SFR and Bouygues Telecom have decided to implement price increases on their subscriptions, to compensate for the additional costs linked to inflation. Customers have already noticed increases in their bill.

In mid-December 2022, Orange logically confirmed that the prices of certain Internet and mobile plans would increase in 2023, in order to offset the additional costs generated by the energy crisis and current inflation.

In the process, Bouygues Telecom and SFR in turn announced price increases on their offers. However, customers have already noticed these increases on their bill, as evidenced by several testimonials on social networks.

Package prices are already increasing at Bouygues and SFR

Regarding Bouygues, the operator has started notifying affected users by email. On the 50 GB package without commitment, you will have to deal with a price increase of €2 per month, and this without any modification of your offer (no mobile data or additional functionalities/services). Obviously, this new rate will come into effect from February 20, 2023, the date of the next invoice. As you can imagine, Bouygues Telecom justifies these prices by “the current context of inflation which weighs on all of our costs”.

Of course, you have no way to refuse this increase. However, and as stipulated in article L224-33 of the Consumer Code, “you can terminate your contract free of charge and without payment of the contractual months remaining due up to a period of four months from receipt of this notification”.

At SFR, prices have also inflated. Be careful, however, since the operator has not taken the trouble to warn the users concerned. In reality, the increases applied are displayed directly on the invoice, at the very bottom of the document. Again, these increases are necessary and part of “a context marked by the general increase in the costs that make up the price of your service (electronic components, raw materials, logistics)”, writes SFR at the bottom of the invoices. It should be noted that the prices have inflated between 0.69 and 0.99 € on average.

And unsurprisingly, RAS at Free Mobile. Indeed, the operator led by Xavier Niel committed in April 2022 not to increase its prices until 2027.
