The new Wi-Fi modem from Bouygues Telecom, presented on Monday by the operator, has obtained the prestigious Green Product Mark certification by TÜV Rheinland.

Bouygues Telecom unveiled, Monday, November 7, the very first eco-designed Wi-Fi 6 internet box certified Green Product Mark by the German organization TÜV Rheinland in France. It is available with the operator’s mid-range offers: Bbox must and Bbox must Smart TV. All this just a few months after the arrival of Wi-Fi 6 with the modem included in its high-end Bbox ultym and ultym Smart TV offers.

Ecological efforts

So what is this new Wi-Fi 6 modem, the fruit of two years of work, offered by Bouygues Telecom? This box is touted by the operator as being “eco-designed”, since in particular it is made up of at least 90% recycled plastic without halogenated substances.

Its weight is reduced by 37% compared to the previous generation of Wi-Fi 6 boxes. And its power consumption is reduced by 18% compared to this previous generation, based moreover on a protocol from the regulator, ARCEP, currently being finalized.

In theory, the outer casing of the box is designed to extend its life, with scratch resistance. The eco-design approach is pushed to the packaging of the machine (now a classic for the operators), made of recycled fibers, and to the prints made with vegetable inks.

Another important point: that of repairability, greatly facilitated with this new modem assembled by clips and without glue, which helps with its maintenance, its reconditioning and the recycling of the device at the end of its life. The box has been certified Green Product Mark by the TÜV Rheinland organization, a label which comes from across the Rhine, of course, but which is a guarantee of quality internationally.

A box available with the Bbox must fiber (and must Smart TV) offer only

On a more commercial level, Bouygues Telecom’s new Wi-Fi 6 box with a vertical design is available from November 7 for customers who subscribe to the Bbox must fiber offer (and Smart TV version), against 24.99 euros/ month for a year, then 41.99 euros/month with a one-year commitment, starting at up to 1 Gbit/s downlink and 700 Mbit/s uplink. It is accessible at the price of 41.99 euros/month with the Bbox must Smart TV offer with a two-year commitment.

Switching from a Wi-Fi 5 box to a Wi-Fi 6 modem allows an undeniable gain in performance. Speeds are twice as fast, boosted by in-device Wi-Fi optimization. The intelligent Wi-Fi integrated into the modem selects in real time and for each compatible connected device the best channel and the best frequency band.

Wi-Fi 6 repeaters are available as an option at the price of 5 euros/month and per unit, within the limit of two repeaters per subscriber.
