TO REMEMBER

The spectators enjoyed shivering this Wednesday. The Nun 2 topped the first day in France, with almost 100,000 admissions (including 32,524 previews). A good start, but inferior to the first part, released in 2018. 130,359 tickets were sold for the first day at the time.

In second place, good mention for A serious job. Thomas Lilti’s new film, focused on the teaching environment, brought together 42,241 curious people (including 14,178 in AVP). The film benefits from a nice cast, notably composed of Vincent Lacoste and Adèle Exarchopoulos.

The Book of Solutions achieves the 2nd best start of Michel Gondry’s career, behind L’Écume des jours and ahead of The Green Hornet. The film is very close to A Serious Job, with 39,172 admissions (including 14,062 in AVP). Pierre Niney confirms his popularity with the public, with a first day in line with that of Boite Noire.

Mystery in Venice, 3rd part from the adaptations of Agatha Christie, by Kenneth Branagh, comes 4th. This is the least successful start of the three parts (42,374 admissions for Murder on the Orient Express, 39,799 for Death on the Nile).

Finally, let us note the very good start of Last summer. This is the 2nd best launch of Catherine Breillat’s career. Its best score to date dates back to Romance in 1999, with 16,198 spectators for the first day. Remember that Last Summer was in competition at the Cannes Film Festival this year.
