Bradley Cooper rarely talks about his fatherhood. Now the star explains that he wants to learn from his own father’s mistakes.

The Hollywood Star Bradley Cooper (48) remembers his late father in an upcoming episode of the show “Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge”. He also discusses how Charles Cooper’s death in 2011 impacted his life – and how his father continues to influence the actor’s daughter’s upbringing today.

“I wish my dad was still there to enjoy more of it, but we all understand how lucky we’ve been,” Cooper explains in an interview with adventurer Bear Grylls (49) in a preview clip, which is available to the US magazine “People”.. His father gave him “a huge gift” at the time: “He died in my arms.”

This made the 48-year-old realize his own mortality – and caused the actor to see things differently today. First, a “nihilistic attitude” developed in him for a short while, with the realization: “Well, I’m going to die.” “It wasn’t great for a while, until I realized I just had to accept who I really am and try to make my peace with it.” Then everything settled down again.

Cooper knows he will make mistakes

Cooper is a father himself. He has a daughter with his former partner Irina Shayk (37). Little Lea (6) was born in 2017. However, the actor and model split in 2019.

The star doesn’t often talk about his child. But now he says that when it comes to education, he wants to learn from his father’s mistakes. “You learn from the mistakes of your predecessor and I will make many, which I hope Lea will learn from,” says Cooper. He treats himself quite rigorously in order to be able to grow and not burden his child with his “crap”.
