Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, 66, was urgently hospitalized early Monday morning in Sao Paulo due to a probable new intestinal obstruction, unable to return to Brasilia at the end of his family vacation in the south of the country.
The presidency announced the admission of the Head of State to the Paulista Hospital of Nova Star for “various examinations” following “abdominal pain”, confirming information first given by the main Brazilian media. “The president is well and is being treated,” the brief official statement continued, pending the publication of a medical bulletin. It was not known at this point whether he should have the operation.
Suspicion of “intestinal sub-occlusive”
Since a stabbing assassination attempt in September 2018, Bolsonaro has undergone numerous operations on his abdomen for adhesions and was treated for the same problem in July 2021, at the facility he was in again on Monday. .
