A major outage hit Discord and Spotify late Tuesday afternoon. If the second recovered quickly, users of the first still encountered some difficulties in the evening.
Discord and Spotify encountered serious connection problems on March 8, 2022. The first signs of failure date from around 7 p.m. We don’t yet know if the two outages are related or just a coincidence, but many services using AWS (Amazon Web Services) all experienced a jolt around the same time.
Discord communicated at 7:25 p.m. on his account Twitter about the breakdown. They wrote : ” We are aware of an issue causing message failures and are working on a fix. We apologize for the disruption and thank you for your patience! »
Major API outage
Also according to Discord, the cause of the outage is still unknown and its teams are working to resolve it.
It seems that initially Discord tried to fix a first issue that was causing API errors and notification errors. As part of the resolution of this first failure, a ” controlled start » of a service has been performed, “which would have caused a temporary interruption of the streaming” as well as a “a major API outage”.
On the Spotify side, however, we do not yet know what happened. A tweet from the Spotify Status account simply confirms that the company is investigating to find the causes of the outage.
