The deputies unanimously adopted on Wednesday in committee a bill for the comprehensive management of care linked to breast cancer, presented by the GDR group (Democratic and Republican Left).

Objective of the text: reimburse “all care”, including so-called “support”. Hair prostheses of all categories and the renewal of breast prostheses can be reimbursed. An amendment tabled by Renaissance, however, excluded fee overruns, mentioned in the initial text. “It’s a victory for the 700,000 women suffering from breast cancer” welcomed rapporteur Fabien Roussel (PCF).

“Thank you for highlighting this issue”

The text is included on the agenda of the communist parliamentary niche on May 30. If it cannot be examined that day, due to lack of time, it could be proposed in a transpartisan law, Fabien Roussel slipped during the commission. “Thank you for highlighting this issue,” underlined the president of the Social Affairs Committee Charlotte Parmentier-Lecocq (Renaissance).

Two GDR law proposals concerning Overseas Territories, to be examined on May 30, were also adopted in committee. One calls for a commission of inquiry into the indecency of social housing in these territories. The second wants to offer the learning of regional languages in nursery and elementary schools.

The GDR group also submitted a bill aimed at constitutionalizing Social Security, rejected in committee. Supported by the left, the text was rejected by the right and the majority. “Our Social Security model is already protected at the legal level since it belongs to the constitutionality bloc” argued Renaissance MP Guillaume Gouffier Valente.
