Breath of the Wild sequel pushed back to spring 2023

We will still have to take our troubles patiently before getting our hands on Link’s new adventures. Scheduled for this year, the continuation of Breath of the Wild – still without an official name – won’t see the light of day until spring 2023. Eiji Aonuma, producer of the Zelda series, confirmed this today in a video posted on YouTube.

Only a short minute to deliver a well-known message. The game is ambitious, the developers are working, but it takes time. And as with Breath of the Wild, teams prefer to take their time.

The last time BotW 2 gave any news was during the Nintendo showcase on the sidelines of E3 2021. The title was then unveiled with a whole emphasis on the skies of Hyrule, a bit like Skyward Sword in his days. With an expected release date for 2022. And since then, radio silence or almost, as tradition dictates for the Zelda license.

It now remains to wait for the spring of 2023 to see if the sequel to Breath of the Wild will indeed be released on Nintendo Switch. The most conspiratorial will see in this report a way for Nintendo to make the game coincide with the release of a new console. As with the original that launched the Switch. But the reality is much simpler. Such a project, especially with so many expectations around it, takes time and a lot of energy. And we will always prefer a postponed but complete game to forced outings as has become the norm.
