Brest: two off-duty police officers file a complaint after an “assault”

Unsa-Police union talks about police officer allegedly assaulted while off duty at city amusement park

Two police officers filed a complaint in Brest following an “assault” while they were off duty, we learned this Sunday, January 9 from the prosecution.

“I confirm that a complaint was received at the police station following the assault of two police officers outside the service but, a priori, because of their quality,” said the prosecution on Sunday, who did not provide no details of the circumstances and background of the incident.

The SGP Police-FO Unit union has announced that it will provide “all its support to the two colleagues attacked while off duty on Friday evening in Brest. Recognized as cops, insulted and beaten with batons by more than eight individuals. How far will anti-cop hatred go? “Asks the union.

For its part, Unsa-Police reports “a policeman and a policewoman from Brest aged about forty who were out of service at the amusement park of Penfeld”, a district of Brest, Friday evening .

“They were on their way to their vehicle when they were blocked by four hooded individuals who allegedly admitted they were police officers. The latter were quickly joined by eight other people, the group pulls out a baton and violently attacks the police, ”according to the union, adding that“ the two colleagues are awaiting a medical examination ”.

“This act worries us greatly, it is the first time that Brest police officers have been attacked while off duty […] We strongly condemn this aggression and we hope for exemplary criminal responses, otherwise this type of aggression could multiply in the future if the perpetrators still enjoy as much leniency, ”adds the union.

Asked about a possible hospitalization of the two police officers and possible days of prescribed ITT, the prosecution did not respond.
