Bridal shoes: trendy models for a wedding in 2021: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Bridal shoes: how to choose them?

In the past, the choice of the bride's shoes did not matter much: we opted for white or nude patent pumps which, anyway, would be hidden by a wedding dress that could only be long. .

But today, shoes have become a key element of the bride's look: if the traditional pumps remain the norm, you can also get married in espadrilles, sneakers, boots, sandals, ballerinas … , You have options !

Bridal shoes: instructions for use. First thing to know: the shoes of the bride must imperatively be in harmony with her dress. So, if the wedding dress is very elaborate, with a lot of details, we will opt for sober shoes: patent pumps, simple ballerinas …

Conversely, if the wedding dress is sober, we will favor more extravagant shoes – if we like, of course! With a long wedding dress, the shoes are (a little) hidden; on the other hand, if it is short, the shoes are the stars.

Bridal shoes: what colors? There are two schools here: in the majority of cases, brides opt for light colors (white, beige or even nude). By matching discreet shoes to the dress, the latter is all the more highlighted. Note, however, that you must pay attention to the different shades of white: an ivory white will not work with a cream white …

You can also play the contrast card: with an immaculate dress, golden or even colorful wedding shoes. Thus, a pair of red pumps with a white "tutu" wedding dress is the pin-up look guaranteed. Be sure to respect the color palette of the wedding.

Bridal shoes: heel or no heel? In 2021, it is quite possible to get married "flat": in ballerinas, sneakers, espadrilles or sandals, for example.

For brides who wish to take a little height, be careful: if the (very) high heels are always attractive, there is no question of investing in a pair of shoes that will give us the gait of a duck … The stillettos are to reserve for women who are used to wearing it – or who have the time to learn.

Our advices. If you never walk in heels, opt for a heel that is 3.5 cm to 5 cm high. If you wear it sometimes (and feel comfortable), choose a 6cm-9cm high heel. 8, 10 and 12 centimeter heels require experience … Also think about square heels and wedge heels: always comfortable, they are easier to wear when you are not used to it.

Bridal shoes: practical tips and trends

When to buy bridal shoes ? It is better to buy your wedding shoes after having chosen (definitively) your wedding dress, that is to say several months before D-Day.

Where to buy bridal shoes? For small budgets, know that most ready-to-wear brands (like Chausséa, H&M, Besson, La Redoute or even Tati) sell quite suitable bridal shoes. They sometimes offer capsule collections designed with great designers.

On the internet, there are many e-shops that offer wedding shoes: not bad for getting an idea, but beware, it is not always possible to try! Finally, think about your local artisans and the shops in your neighborhood: often cheaper than they seem, they have suffered from the economic and health crisis …

And finally, you can also design your shoes yourself. Several brands offer an online custom creation service – you choose the shape, height, material, colors … Count between 180 and 310 € for a pair of made-to-measure shoes.

Bridal shoes: comfort above all! You're going to be spending an entire day (if not more) with your bridal shoes on, so it is imperative that they are comfortable. A little tip: go try on your bridal shoes at the end of the day, when your feet are a little swollen, to do a test in situation. Remember to "make" your bridal shoes at least 1 month before D-Day by wearing them regularly at home.

Bridal shoes: the trends. " White or nude bridal shoes are timeless: there is also a "glitter shoes" trend., notes Camille Tardif, wedding planner. The worked ballerinas remain anecdotal but constitute a possible alternative. You should know that brides generally invest in two pairs: a very worked pair (with a heel …) for the ceremony / civil marriage and a more comfortable pair for the evening. Regarding the writings under the sole that we see a lot on social networks, it seems to me that it can be pretty in the photos of the preparations but that it is no longer of interest during the day. "
