Bright and modern – Piaggio One: Italo e-scooter with removable battery

Piaggio has approached the topic of electric scooters very slowly, so far there is only one model with the Vespa elettrica, which was introduced in 2018. And that irritated, especially at the beginning of his career, with the senselessly low top speed in the light motorcycle version. Now the Italians are sending a second model into the race: the Piaggio One, which has top quality with a storage compartment and removable battery.

With the One, Piaggio presents a fundamentally new generation of electric scooters, which is intended primarily to appeal to young people and comes in bright colors. The two-part headlights as well as all other lighting elements consist of LEDs.

The digital display automatically adjusts the contrast and brightness to the surroundings. The e-scooter also has connectivity technology and a keyless start system for the user.

Motor in the rear wheel
The engine has an output of 1.2 kW / 2 PS or 2 kW / 3 PS. It is located in the 10-inch rear wheel, which is guided on a two-arm swing arm. The front wheel also measures 10 inches and is guided by one arm, like on the Vespa.

Electricity comes from a removable lithium-ion battery that, unlike the Vespa elettrica, can be removed so that it can be charged at home. Despite the traction battery, the One should still offer spacious storage space under its seat – as the only e-scooter in its class, as Piaggio emphasizes.

The Piaggio One is offered in different performance versions – with 45 km / h and 60 km / h – as well as with different ranges. The electric scooter with a maximum speed of 45 km / h achieves a range of 100 kilometers per battery charge in urban areas. The range of the Piaggio One Active in the 60km / h version is up to 85 kilometers per battery charge. With the battery, the scooter weighs 92 or 94 kg.

The price list in Austria starts at 2999 euros (with funding 2129 euros) for the weaker version, the more powerful Piaggio One Active costs 3999 euros (with funding 2699 euros). An additional up to € 700 can be applied for with proof of electricity purchase from 100% renewable energy. Launch in July.
