Since her international breakthrough in the early 1980s, Brigitte Nielsen, 60, has been in the headlines not only because of her participation in successful films, but also often because of her private life. The actress was married four times and had four sons from these marriages. In 2006 she finally went to the altar for the fifth time with her great love: Mattia Dessi, 45, who was 15 years younger than her. Many fans were bothered by the age difference and were sure that the relationship would not last. But Nielsen and Dessi proved skeptics wrong, they are still happily in a relationship today and have fulfilled their biggest dream with their daughter Frida, 5.

The fact that the actress underwent IVF treatments for years to have another child and finally became pregnant in her mid-50s was met with incomprehension by many people. In an interview, Brigitte Nielsen explains why being an older mom is the best thing ever.

Brigitte Nielsen sees it as an advantage to raise a child “at the age of a grandmother”.

In an interview with “People” magazine, the “Rocky IV” actress made it clear that she was aware of what people thought about her late pregnancy. “Half the world said that when I got pregnant at 55 – including my four older sons,” she says, adding: “But there is no such thing as ‘too old’.” After all, men would not be confronted with this accusation if they became fathers at an older age. “Look at Robert De Niro. He’s 79 and has a 7-month-old child.”

Brigitte Nielsen also emphasizes that her wisdom and age would make her a great mother. “You know how kids say grandmothers are the best? I feel like I have that mindset and those feelings. I have the patience and the extra love to give now, and I think that’s it “It’s because I’m a grandmother’s age,” explains the Danish-born woman. For them it is clear: “I’m a better mother at 60.” When she was raising her sons, who are now 28 to 39 years old, she often had to juggle to balance her kids and acting. Daughter Frida, 5, would now come first.

She underwent IVF treatments for 13 years

Brigitte Nielsen lives with her husband Mattia Dessi and Frida in Marbella, Spain. “I had a lot of time to prepare for Frida,” says Nielsen, recalling that she and Dessi performed artificial insemination for 13 years before it finally worked. “The doctor warned me to be realistic about my chances. He told me I had a two and a half percent chance of getting pregnant, and when it finally worked, it was simply unbelievable,” explains the 60-year-old, adding that it was with Frida was the “easiest pregnancy” she has ever had.
