It doesn’t always depend on the number of subscribers. Fans of good films and series should know this somewhat smaller streaming service if they think they’ve seen everything on Netflix.
Netflix is the most successful streaming service in the world, Amazon Prime Video is close behind and Disney+ is becoming the closest follower. If you don’t necessarily look at the number of subscribers, but at the content, you shouldn’t miss one competitor in particular: AppleTV+. The iPhone group’s streaming service has been on the market since the end of November 2019 and positioned itself directly as a supplementary subscription to the existing services with a monthly price of 4.99 euros. In the past year in particular, however, a number of films and series have been added that are now interesting enough for fans of series and films to subscribe. Here are some reasons why AppleTV+ is slowly becoming mandatory.
Originals from AppleTV+: You should know these series
When AppleTV+ was launched, it still looked rather meager with good content. Although “The Morning Show” already existed and “For All Mankind” also had a very good first season, a streaming service needs more than just two good arguments to attract users to its side. Today these two series got a second season that exceeded all expectations. But above all, the comedy series “Ted Lasso” has rightly won almost every award in recent years. Starring Jason Sudeikis, the series about a football coach tasked with leading a football club to success in England is so funny and heartwarming that it’s a must-watch.
Also very entertaining is the comedy “Mythic Quest” about working in a video game company, which has a lot to say without “The Office” charm and makes you laugh all the time. “Foundation” is a science fiction series with really big ambitions. Told across multiple generations on a massive budget, it might have failed for its sheer size, but fans of the genre haven’t had anything quite as good since The Expanse.
For a special taste, the Korean “Dr. Brain” is absolutely worth seeing. In six episodes, the series tells a story of madness. The neuroscientist hacks into the memories of the deceased to find out how his family died in a car accident, but can he still distinguish between his thoughts and someone else’s memories? And only recently “Suspicion” started – a crime series that seems to be full of surprises with Uma Thurman and Noah Emmerich really has star potential.
Exclusive movies on AppleTV+
There’s always an issue of money when buying rights to movies, but AppleTV+ at least spends its budget on real gems. “Finch,” starring Tom Hanks, is a touching story about the last person on earth who builds a robot so he and his dog won’t be so alone anymore. In classic Hanks manner, heart meets brain and you really feel the robot at the end. “CODA” revolves around a young woman who is the only one in her otherwise deaf family who can hear and therefore has the big dream of studying music. However, this leads to conflicts with her parents, who want her to work in their fishery – dramatic, emotional and gripping.
And the music documentaries shouldn’t be hidden either: “Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry” about the rise of the singer of the same name is one of the best films of 2021 and the documentary “The Velvet Underground” about Lou Reed’s influential band should be Music fans shouldn’t miss it.If you still haven’t had enough, you can still watch the best film portrait of the legendary “Beastie Boys” that has existed to date: “Beastie Boys Story” is not only a documentary, but a documentary at the same time All of these arguments should be enough to justify spending the 4.99 euros a month and whoever buys a new Apple device will get the service free for a year anyway.
