Britney Spears can look forward to another success in the lawsuit against her father Jamie: she does not have to be questioned.
Britney Spears (40) has won another victory in court. Judge Brenda Penny ruled on Wednesday (July 27). according to the US industry portal “Variety”that the 40-year-old singer does not have to be questioned by his lawyers in her ongoing legal battle with her father Jamie Spears (70).
“We are delighted, but not surprised, that Judge Penny has reaffirmed her thoughtful and legally correct judgment and once again dismissed Mr. Spears’ shameful and desperate efforts to secure his own daughter’s questioning,” Britney Spears’ attorney Mathew Rosengart told People magazine. “Any decent man, especially a father, would accept defeat and just move on.”
Statement would be “traumatizing”
In her decision, Judge Penny reportedly said details that would emerge from the 40-year-old’s testimony would not be helpful to the case. Rosengart argued in court that questioning would “traumatize” Spears and stated that his client would not testify at further trials.
Apparently, questions are to be clarified in court that are open after the 13-year guardianship that Britney Spears was under. Guardianship ended in November 2021. Earlier this month, the judge ordered Jamie Spears testified as part of an investigation into his role as guardian. At the time, the judge said she needed more time to decide whether his daughter should be questioned.
Following the decision, the singer’s lawyer also said, according to People, “This was another big win for Britney Spears.” In addition to his questioning, Jamie Spears must also “present all legally required documents,” Rosengart said. Jamie Spears has previously denied allegations that he bugged his daughter’s bedroom.
Meanwhile, Britney Spears continues to enjoy her freedom after her guardianship ended. In June, the singer married her longtime partner Sam Asghari (28). The two got engaged in September 2021, about five years after they became a couple. From her previous marriage to Kevin Federline (44), the American has two sons, Sean Preston (16) and Jayden James (15).
