After an accident which occurred under the influence of alcohol, Christian Troadec, the left-wing mayor of Carhaix, in Finistère, lost his regional delegations. The 57-year-old man lost control of his vehicle on Thursday afternoon, ending up in the garden of a property.

The president of the regional council of Brittany, Loïg Chesnais-Girard, announced on Sunday that he was withdrawing his regional delegations from his vice-president Christian Troadec, various left-wing mayor of Carhaix (Finistère), after an accident which occurred under the influence of alcohol. According to the daily Le Télégramme, Christian Troadec, 57, lost control of his vehicle Thursday afternoon in Morbihan, ending his race in the garden of a property. The gendarmes who went to the scene of the accident checked him with a blood alcohol level of 1.06 grams per liter of blood, more than double the authorized level (0.5 g/l).

“Avoid an animal”

“This accident which occurred under the influence of alcohol is serious. I do not compromise with the essential principles and the function of vice-president requires exemplary behavior, expected by the Bretons. From now on, I hope that Christian Troadec will do what is necessary to preserve its health,” declared the president of the Brittany Region in a press release. Questioned by Le Télégramme on the circumstances of this accident, the mayor of Carhaix assured that he wanted to “avoid an animal”. “I was coming back from a business meal. I haven’t drunk for a year because of my health problems. The medications I take may have also played a role. There was probably one drink too many and I regrets,” he told the newspaper.

Mayor of Carhaix (7,000 inhabitants) since 2001 and made famous by his role as spokesperson for the Bonnets Rouges movement, Christian Troadec has held the position of vice-president of the Region since 2021, responsible for the languages ​​of Brittany and Bretons of the world. .
