(Reuters) – Brittney Griner on Friday left the military medical center she had been in in Texas since returning to the United States a week ago after ten months in Russian detention, CNN reported.

The basketball player arrived at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston last Friday after US authorities secured her release in exchange for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout.

Brittney Griner, 32, figure of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), was arrested on February 17 at Moscow airport with in her luggage cartridges of electronic cigarettes containing cannabis oil, a substance prohibited in Russia.

She had been sentenced to nine years in prison for possession and trafficking of cannabis and transferred to a penal colony.
