(Boursier.com) — Broadcom indicated that the repurchase of VMware for $61 billion, which has passed all regulatory steps except Chinese approval, is expected to be finalized before the merger agreement expires. The deal has already received approvals from authorities in the European Union, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. The last obstacle therefore remains China, the Financial Times having recently clarified that the country’s antitrust regulators could take more time before approving the marriage due to the tightening of American sanctions.
