Broadcom: British green light to take over VMware

(CercleFinance.com) – Following an in-depth investigation by an independent panel, the British Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has given the green light to the acquisition of VMware by Broadcom, a transaction valued at 69 billions of dollars.

The panel confirmed its preliminary conclusions – presented last July – that the plan would not materially reduce competition in the supply of hardware components for servers in the UK, and that it would not harm innovation.

As a reminder, the European Commission also authorized the proposed acquisition of VMware last July, an approval nevertheless conditional on full compliance with the commitments offered by Broadcom.
