Appeal to politicians – Open letter: “Klagenfurt needs a new start”

One scandal follows another. Political bickering has been raging in the state capital for years: “Our citizens really don’t deserve this!” complains Mayor Christian Scheider.

Apparently the city boss himself doesn’t know what else to do: after Jürgen Dumpelnik, the favorite in the race for the new municipal chief post, due to his proximity to the SPÖ and his intervention in a city senate motion – which, incidentally, decided his future salary of around 11,000 euros per month should be – was now also dropped by the SPÖ, Mayor Christian Scheider wrote an open letter. “Too little and superficial.” In it he not only criticizes the climate within the city’s politics, but also finds clear words about the SPÖ: “Because of the scandalous events Around the candidate for magistrate director pushed by the SPÖ, which was uncovered by one of the club’s own employees, it is now clear who is the cause of all these problems in the city.” The SP would draw the wrong conclusions from the political affair, she suggests Mag. Michael Zernig, who was ranked in the same position, as a replacement candidate. “This is clearly not enough for a credible analysis and far too superficial for me as mayor,” said Scheider in his letter. Scheider does not mention any specific names; However, from the media reports of the past few years it can be seen that Vice Mayor Philipp Liesnig could be referred to. In any case, it is clear to Scheider: “Things can no longer go on like they have in previous years; our citizens really don’t deserve that.” He calls for constructive cooperation between all political forces and promises as mayor: “To party political tactics and to put an end to blocking.” Because: “Klagenfurt needs a new start!”
