Broadpeak: next-generation streaming software

(CercleFinance.com) – Broadpeak announced last night the launch of next-generation streaming software with much lower power consumption than traditional products.

Called ‘BkS450’, this software, which is based on a third-generation Intel Xeon processor, should allow the company’s customers to ensure high-performance streaming for very bandwidth-intensive streams (4K and 8K TV, video recorder ), with better energy efficiency than traditional servers, but also lower costs.

Concretely, the BkS450 makes it possible to offer video services at 725 Gigabits per second (Gbps) on servers consuming 900 Watts, thus reducing the power required to broadcast one Gbps by a factor of four.

Jacques Le Mancq, its CEO of Broadpeak, points out that this new solution demonstrates the company’s desire to promote “greener and more economical” video streaming.

The company – which went public last June – recalls that it has invested more than 40 million euros in R&D since its creation, an activity which represents nearly half of its total workforce.

The action yielded 1.7% following this announcement. Since its IPO, the value has lost nearly 12%.
