Once received, I discover a small transparent jar closed by a rose gold lid. Light and not very big, it fits easily in a toiletry bag or in the bag for a small touch-up in the middle of the day (or evening). The small disappointment is under the lid. Personally, I find that a plastic seal is missing between the wax and the lid. I also regret that there is no box and no instructions for use. The “no paper” approach is understandable, but we don’t all have the time or the reflex to go to YouTube to watch a tutorial.
The wax arrives in its small cardboard packaging, the brand’s signature. For beginners in wax or makeup, Benefit gives you the instructions directly on the box, accompanied by a before / after. Once opened, I discover a tube almost identical to the brand’s flagship gel (Brow Setter Gel). The difference ? The cap and the shape of the brush. Similar to a mascara, it looks quite simple to use.
VERDICT
It’s the fixing wax from Benefit that wins this first round! Even though I’ve been a fan of makeup and groomed eyebrows for several years, it’s always super practical to have instructions. Other points that weighed in the balance, the brush and the format. Smaller than a mascara, the tube slips easily into the bag and, unlike Anastasia Beverly Hills wax, the brush is included in the packaging!

THE TEXTURE
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Wax
I was slightly disappointed at first. I discovered a white paste with a creamy texture, far from the satisfying demo of social networks. After watching a few tutorials, I understood that you simply had to warm the pot between your hands in order to transform this paste into transparent wax, easy to model. After reflection, it’s very practical, especially if you take the wax in your bag, it avoids the risk of leakage! On the brush, the texture is quite elastic and creamy, even very slightly sticky: perfect for taming thick, full eyebrows.
Once the brush is out of the bottle, I discover a white fluid, slightly transparent and very light. At first glance, it is a non-sticky texture and suitable only for thin and sparse eyebrows.
VERDICT
Personally, I fell in love with the texture of the Brow Freeze wax. It is much easier to work with. The simple act of “jellifying” it just by placing it between the hands, makes this product much more customizable.

THE APP

For this step, take a small spatula to remove the wax and a brush head to apply it. Personally, I used the inside of the cap to deposit the wax there and transfer to the applicator. Once on the eyebrow, it’s quite impressive. My thick, full brows took the bend straight away. The most rebellious hairs have been tamed, and this, from the first pass! I could give them any shape. Big fan of fluffy eyebrows, I’m delighted!
Quite practical, this fixing wax is applied like a mascara. Once the wax dries, the white color disappears and becomes transparent. I’m a little sorry that it doesn’t shape the eyebrows so quickly. The fluid side of the product is even more visible on application. However, the practical side of the integrated brush is not negligible!
VERDICT
It’s the fixing wax from Benefit that wins this round! Even if several passages are necessary to tame the capricious hairs, the brush head integrated into the cap is ultra practical.

THE RESULT
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Wax
I was really surprised with the result! Like on Instagram, my brows kept their shape throughout the day. No cardboard effect, no residue. Each hair has remained in its place and the shape is ultra defined. I can say it’s heartbreaking. However, be careful to clean the brush thoroughly after each use and not to use too many products. This will allow you to avoid small white marks on and above the eyebrows.
I must admit that I was slightly disappointed with the result. Eyebrows are not as “set” as with Anastasia Beverly Hills wax. You have to make several passes during the application and the hairs do not stay in place all day (minimum 5 hours). Another disadvantage, the wax is not resistant to water. It is resistant to humidity, but unfortunately it did not pass the tests of perspiration and water.
VERDICT
It’s Anastasia Beverly Hills’ fixative wax that wins this penultimate round! The result is incredible. The eyebrows are fixed from the first pass, and this, for the whole day. The shape is clean and there is no cardboard effect. You can style those little hairs any way you like!
