From the start of 2024, Thomas Sotto and Marie Portolano will have to face the arrival, on TF1, of a morning show presented by Bruce Toussaint. Is this a program that could overshadow their show Telematin, broadcast on France 2? In the columns of Parisianthis Friday, December 8, the hosts ensured that it “There’s room for everyone” and that there is nothing to be overly stressed about. And this, even if the columnist Maud Descamps was poached for the occasion by competition.
Proud more than anything else, Thomas Sotto estimated that “it’s a good sign” since “that means that[ils ont] the best” on air. As for the producer of the France 2 morning show, she is categorical, the recipe is bearing enough fruit to remain the same: “We are not going to change everything because there has a new competitor. Telematin is an extremely well-established machine, which is already being renewed every day. Although I’m not going to lie to you: I’m going to watch what they’re going to do…” Invited to the microphone of Europe 1, on December 1, Marie Portolano’s sidekick already reacted to the departure of his collaborator to work with Bruce Toussaint by indicating that Maud Descamps “is an excellent journalist” and “this also proves that they will be inspired by[‘eux]”.

A duo who will have to challenge themselves a little more every day
Thomas Sotto also made a small clarification to put the loss of his colleague on the air into perspective. Telematin : “In this business, you are never more than the microphone you sit in front of. Nicolas de Tavernost [président directoire du groupe M6, NDLR] has a sentence, which he utters in April, when the animators are renegotiating the contracts: ‘The concept is stronger than the animator’.” Determined to continue doing what he does on France 2 and which pleases viewers, the journalist specified that he “There’s something quite exciting” to the idea of having competition as the “great sportsmen” whom he has interviewed in the past. The latter have “Always said: ‘We are never better than if we are challenged’.”
