Bryan Cranston has announced that he wants to take a break. Now he makes it clear: It will be a career restart, not the end.

Bryan Cranston (67) has clearly denied the rumors that he would retire at the age of 70. On Instagram, the “Breaking Bad” star put his statements in one recent “GQ” interview once again clear. There he had announced that he would say goodbye to the film business, at least for the time being. He therefore wants to close his production company, sell his shares in Dos Hombres and move to another country with his wife Robin Dearden (69) for at least six months.

After this announcement had generated numerous headlines about a possible end of the actor’s career, contradicts he is now on Instagram: “I will not retire.” Instead, he will only “allow himself a break” after his 70th birthday in 2026 – although he does not yet know what “break” even means.

Cranston wants to spend time with his wife

He hopes for two things from this break. First, “spending time with Robin (my beautiful wife of 34 years) in a way I haven’t been able to for the last 25 years.” They are a couple entering “the final years” that bring with them “new hopes, goals and experiences,” Cranston said.

Secondly, he wanted to give his career a kind of restart. “I feel like I’m running out of fresh ideas on how to play the characters.” He wants to “replenish my soul through new life experiences and prepare myself in a more authentic way for all the roles that are offered to me.”

Get off the hamster wheel

For this he will also part with social media and “get out of the hamster wheel of business life”. He will also use his new free time to “immerse himself in the classic novels that I always promised myself I would read but didn’t.”

Before that, however, several films would come out of which he was very proud. He also produces stories for television and is focused on his return to Broadway – “but this time in a new light.” At the end of his text, Cranston thanks his fans for their support: “I don’t take my luck for granted. I’m blessed, I know that.”
